Christmas Bird Count

Each Christmas Bird Count is conducted on a single day between December 14 and January 5. Counts are carried out within a 24-km diameter circle that stays the same from year to year. The results are used daily by conservation biologists and naturalists to assess the population trends and distribution of birds. Christmas Bird Count for Kids
Skill Level: Beginner.
Inspired by the well-loved, traditional Christmas Bird Count, the CBC4Kids engages new generations of young birders across North America.
When: Throughout December and January.
Findings are submitted through an online checklist and reported to Nature Counts and eBird Canada, where they can be used in scientific research.
