A Birdwatchers’ Banquet: Recipes from Birders and Worders

A digital, downloadable collection of 80 pages of delicious dining, from Drinks and Appetizers, through Soups, Salads, and Mains to Desserts—gathered from Pelee Island’s Springsong Guest Authors, Guest Birders, and friends.

Sample Margaret Atwood’s mother’s oatmeal bread, Michael Crummey’s favourite cocktail, Lorna Crozier’s go-to ginger cookies, Jane Urquhart’s family tuna casserole, Carol Off’s sea-going braised beef ribs, Sean Dooley’s father’s Curry, Spanish tapas from David Lindo (aka The Urban Birder), Robert Bateman’s Tarte Tatin au Naturel, and much, much more.

Each recipe tells a story—about birding, Pelee Island, or why that particular dish is close to the heart of the person sharing it.

All proceeds support the Pelee Island Heritage Centre, which promotes island education and preservation, and the Pelee Island Bird Observatory, which undertakes research into bird populations and migratory patterns on this vital island stepping-stone for birds travelling to and from their breeding grounds in eastern Canada.
