Meet Windsor’s Official Bird
The ballots are counted and the winner is the Tufted Titmouse. This feisty grey-and-white member of the chickadee family has expanded its range into southern Ontario thanks to the many bird feeders urban watchers have put out, and so is a fitting avian ambassador for the Windsor area.
The announcement was made in Ojibway Park on April 12. PIBO executive director Suzanne Friemann was part of the official party, representing PIBO’s role in having Windsor named as Canada’s 16th Bird Friendly City.
“Folks are responding well to the selection,” says Suzanne. “The media and community response has been great. I’m grateful that we have a strong team to continue working with as we move forward.”
