PIBO is pleased to announce that it will soon have a vibrant, new website available to friends of PIBO. Overseeing the migration to the new PIBO portal is Karl Mohr of Multibeat. The new site will be easier for PIBO staff to update and maintain. The site will ‘go live’ this Fall 2012.

Along with a nice variety of other birds, 136 thrushes have been banded over the last several mornings. We banded 43 Swainson’s, 6 Gray-cheeked, 3 Veerys, and a Hermit Thrush this morning. They were picking at Elderberries. Also, 20 warbler species were recorded and 77 Bobolinks were counted on the census. 68 species were tallied

We banded and heard lots of Swainson’s Thrushes again today. Blue-headed Vireo and Northern Parula were both new for the fall (photo Common Yellowthroat).

There were numerous thrushes around this morning. We banded 26 including a Gray-cheeked Thrush, along with 55 warblers of nine species! Many Blackpoll and Bay-breasted were observed (photo Black-throated Blue Warbler). Fifty-seven species were noted on the day.

Light north winds helped push some migrants into the area this morning. A Black-crowned Night Heron and a Solitary Sandpiper were observed during the census. 49 birds were banded and 15 warbler species were recorded.
