PIBO regularly accepts applications from individuals interested in assisting with migration monitoring /banding. We can offer shorter stays of one week to longer stints of several weeks. Ideally, you will have some fieldwork experience with banding songbirds and or be keen birders. We can offer free rent in our staff house, but food and transportation is your responsibility. Volunteers are required to work long hours, seven days a week assisting with the various migration monitoring programs. Also required is the assistance with daily upkeep, cooking, cleaning, etc. The field season runs from early April to early June (spring) and from early August to mid-November (fall).  Volunteers will report to the Bander-in-Charge who will provide training and advice on PIBO protocols.
